		<description>
	Client: Mimi Kakushi
Scope: Brand Concept Identity &#38;amp; Design

Date: 2021

Mimi Kakushi embodies Japan when jazz was swinging into 1920s Osaka, bringing modern art and western fashions with it. The result? A culture clash to challenge traditional values and ignite a new golden era.

Rather than centre around one type of cuisine or attempt to mirror a national identity, this concept is focused on capturing a moment in time. An authentic celebration of Oriental Art Deco, the heydays of the 1920’s brought to the modern day.

It’s where the old world meets the new and East meets West. The interior uses traditional Japanese joinery, colonial influenced furniture, decorative fabrics and hand painted walls. In contrast to the décor is a vibrant and abstract branding approach inspired by the modernist art movement Mavo. The bold forms and colours used across the menus, signage and other displays punctuate and compliment the space with moments of energy and expression.Partners:Pirajean Lees (Interior Design)Ella Hampshire Perks (Design)

“Grown from these lands”The 20 Berkeley story recognises and celebrates the cross-over of town and country, nature and city, the rural and the urbane. It’s notable Mayfair site once marking London’s threshold with the countryside.

The menu centres
around exceptional, sustainably
grown produce,
based on the seasonal offering from around the British
Isles - carefully
sourced through the restaurant’s long-standing relationship with progressive
producers, suppliers
and growers, who
share the team’s commitment to
artisan ingredients.

As such the 20 Berkeley brand identity is rooted deeply within it’s heritage and setting, providing
the restaurant with a true sense&#38;nbsp;of authenticity and subtle exclusivity. As emulated&#38;nbsp;within the space, the concept ties into the values of the Arts &#38;amp; Crafts movement. An emphasis on traditional, honest craftsmanship weaves through the project, as an opportunity to showcase the inherent beauty of the different natural materials used. Tactile, ‘hand-made’ finishes invite customers to interact with the restaurant’s ethos at every stage of their experience.&#38;nbsp;Offering guests a chance to re-discover the restaurant with a different experience, every time they visit – each time turning a new page in a continuing correspondence with nature.

BLUE BECOMES WHITEBECOMES PINK BECOMESGOLD BECOMESNIGHTA vibrant and dynamic brand identity for Tagomago beach club. The spirit of the Balearic islands is an intangible energy. Reflecting and resonating in the minds and souls of visitors and residents, time and time again.Tagomago echoes this bohemian spirit with a colourful and upbeat identity, contrasting its calming interior with bold tones, variable type, high vibe elements and low-fi imagery.Partners:Pirajean Lees (Interior Design)Ella Hampshire Perks (Design)

Pastelaria - Café - Restaurant
Lana Lusa revives the neighbourhood soul of old southern Europe, where a day could pass in a heartbeat. Or, just as easily, stretch out for an eternity. This quaint Portuguese eatery redefines the idea of ‘local’ and celebrates the blurring and fluidity of time reminiscent of those lazy walks through the Barrio Alto and afternoons lost in conversation and endless mealtimes with friends.

Japanese Restaurant &#38;amp; Speakeasy

Gohan embodies traditional Japanese soul celebrating authentic and low-key dining rooms, with a fresh outlook on Japanese street food. A speakeasy only accessible by walking through a wine fridge, Gohan is an intimate dining experience that is small in size but has a strong identity and character.

Central to the brand narrative are the illustrations that adorn the menus. Here we recreated our own set of ‘Sugoroku‘ picture-based playing cards. These centuries old board games often depicted ‘Kabuki’ theatre actors playing the roles of famous samurai legends and other folklore heroes. The 200 year old compositions were adopted and updated with our own palette of colours and patterns in order to compliment the interior design. This contrasts with a clean logo and type style in keeping with contemporary Japanese graphics and typography.

“The Home of a Hundred Stories”

An authentic Arabic dining experience in the heart of Dubai’s financial district.

Nestled at the foot of Emirates Towers in Dubai is an oasis of calm. A high walled garden of authentic design and rich cultural references that contrasts it’s modern commercial surroundings.A rich palette, a Historical name, a logo of symbolic significance and brand patterns layered with ancient berber icons: every detail of this brand’s identity has been painstakingly researched and crafted to perfection.

Ninive acts as a home from home for discerning local clientele and international travellers seeking a more personal and diverse restaurant experience. They&#38;nbsp;make the experience, the space belongs to them. The interior is a blank canvas of comfortable, familiar materials upon which layers of culture, art and narrative are built up over time. The space will adapt and evolve to the patrons and their preferences creating an inclusive feeling soft membership.

The Riviera, re-imagined.

This is renowned restaurant La Cantine du Foubourg’s ‘journee a la plage’, a chic new beach club that brings a touch of the South of France to Dubai’s sun-drenched shores.
Inspired by Matisse’s Nice residency and cut out shape artwork the brand balances elegance and style with a colourful character and bursts of energy, transporting you not just to the beaches of the Cote d’Azur, but back to the carefree sixties from where it lends it’s name.
